It has always been interesting whenever discussion on this topic comes up, and I have been asked severally – HOW?
Though it’s inspiring that many people are coming to terms with the fact that, what we ordinarily refer to as ‘failure’ is actually part of preparation to achieve that which we set out to do, become or experience.
Failure could appear in form of adversity, pain, suffering, mistake, hitch, resistance, opposition, criticism, challenge, set back, frustration, loss, shortfall or any such negative encounter.
It is important that we have this at the back of our minds that, failure is part of life and will always knock at the door, even when uninvited, and from least expected quarters.
Usually, the bigger the outcome you are expecting the more resistance you encounter.
Ok let me add that, if we are not experiencing hitches in our endeavour, it could mean that our growth pace is low, and we may need to re-assess our goals and strategies.
But keep reminding yourself that ‘Rome was not built in twenty four hours’.
No matter how scary or difficult things around you may seem, once you keep on tackling them in bits, over a period of time, positive changes will definitely occur.
So it’s never a 360 degrees instant turn around projection.
Give it a little time. Keep working on it.
I am bringing this up at this point to address some of the feedback we received recently. Some of us may be going through certain challenges and contemplating giving up, or wondering if it’s all worth the discomfort.
Be encouraged!
When we know that failure is part of success, we will settle our minds from the beginning that giving up is not an option.
Challenges will keep manifesting, except when what we engage in is not worthwhile (I believe it’s worthwhile).
When we give up in the face of failure or mistake nothing gets achieved.
What do we now do with failure? To answer this, let’s do a simple exercise (think of a time when you had a challenging situation – how did you handle it and what did you learn from it?).
I will give an example;
I lost an entire manuscript to a book I was working on June 2017. It was a huge challenge for me. But guess what ? It added to my experience, and placed me in a better position to help others.
I have come to realize from my personal experience and interaction with people that, when we are faced with adversity, and we hang in there, we tend to stretch ourselves a bit more, and come up with something even more valuable and creative…
-Failure instills in us more sense of discipline, tenacity, humility, creativity, confidence, knowledge, wisdom, understanding, drive, sacrifice, focus, bravery, excellence, growth, hopefulness, commitment, empathy, gratitude, courage, love, humanity, passion – the list is endless.
And we need all these skills to get along in different areas of life.
Challenges are gifts in disguise! Take time to seek out the pearls your challenges are presenting. Things are not always what they seem.
So when next you feel beaten down, remember you are still on the right route, and progressing to the result you want to create.
Stay inspired and live your best life!
