This era, in the history of mankind, is a period of super technology explosion.
In fact, every aspect of human endeavour has gone digital and high tech.
By ‘good old paper and pen’ I mean, being conservative sometimes, and not getting carried away with technology and speed. GOPP could be used literally or figuratively.
It’s truly intriguing that a lot can be achieved in so short a time, with just clicks on buttons.
AWESOME!
There are machines, gadgets and electronics that could do all manners of things, and very fast too.
It would not be far from the truth to say that, this is one of the best times to be on planet earth (will talk about another great time to be here some other time).
We all enjoy the benefits of these machines and gadgets in such great measures. Just take a look around you, wherever you may be right now, and the magic abounds.
As the day goes by, technology gets even more sophisticated.
However, there are core areas in our lives where, we have to go real and choose to go back to the ‘good old paper and pen’.
There are times when speed and efficiency may not be really uppermost. We need to take time out often to pause, reflect, and draw from our inner boundless potentials.
Whatever we place value on deserves our time, reflection, consideration and attention, not necessarily speed.
It’s very critical that before we step on the gas for uber speed, we should ensure that we are heading in the direction that serves us and others better.
For instance, GOPP is very much needed when it comes to ascertaining in simple and clear terms, what it is we want to do with the rest of our lives, in respect of our personal, professional, spiritual and social lives.
In family settings, I doubt if speed and efficiency can take the place of genuine, unselfish and warm bonding of family members.
There’s need to give quality time in teaching (by example), inspiring and modelling for the upcoming generation, especially with the current unlimited exposure to diverse technology and information.
We make choices daily…
…and it should be made consciously (giving sincere thought to the end result). The world would be a lot better place.
Technology is meant to serve mankind, and not to enslave us. We need to deliberately figure out when to go back to GOPP.
Our sojourn here is not indefinite, so our life is worth giving serious thoughts and attention, very often.
The good thing is that, habit learning is not exclusive to bad habits. Good habits, as well, could be learned, nurtured and mastered.
I’m really thrilled for the privilege to be on the planet at a time like this, with advancement in technology, though it’s imperative to resort to ‘good old paper and pen’ whenever necessary.
Much encouragement
